Speech Therapy
Speech therapy (ST) also known as Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), is typically a rehabilitative process of correcting communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders. It can also be used to maintain appropriate levels of communication, cognition and swallowing to ensure activities of daily living are achievable. Speech therapy goals include:
- Communication: Helping people effectively communicate with family members and physicians
- Cognitive: Developing programs to assist with memory loss and disorientation from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
- Swallowing: Improving ability to safely swallow food and drink to combat weight loss, and/or prevent choking, and even prevent pneumonia which can result from food/drink entering the lungs
Personal-Touch Home Care Speech Therapists are licensed to assess, educate, train, and treat in the safety and convenience of your home.
We were referred to them by the VA. It has been an absolute pleasure…the person assigned to my dad is a great fit…caring, compassionate, thoughtful and most importantly, pays attention to my dad’s needs.
